Runic Necromancy

Written by Dan Updike This is a simple rite necromancy using rune magick (working with the spirits of the dead and with death energy) *In order for this to be truly effective not have results you did not intend, a cursory knowledge of the runes at least is necessary. This can be found easily online, or in an initiatory fashion through the production called “The Runic Series”* You will need: paper a black or red ink a bloodletter (this can be as simple as a diabetic lancet device) matches or a lighter First set your intent. Do you want to communicate with the spirit of a loved one is passed on? Do you want to communicate with the dead in general? These are questions you need to ask yourself prior to the working, or even preparing the working itself. The best place to perform this ritual is either outside in nature, or in a graveyard if that is legally permissible. If you are doing this in a graveyard it is a good idea to have visited that graveyard on a couple of occasions prior to the working, in order to meditate there attending yourself to the energies in that place. Your wanting to connect in either instance with the energies of transformation represented by what we call death. Once you have your intent set, the best runes for you to use are: Tyr; Yrr; Ar; Fe These runes can be used individually a row, OR combined together into a single glyph called a “Bind Rune”. Either way the way this is charged is the same. Each individual rune must be charged as an individual whether it is in a group of runes or in a single glyph. The only difference being if you have made a bind rune after each individual rune is charged, the combined glyph needs to be charged (oftentimes with the name of the glyph being the first letter of each rune in the bind rune) visualizing all of the runes coming together into a single field of power. Realize that rune magick is blood magick from time immemorial and in order to charge the runes you need to “blood” them. This is part of the “gift for gift exchange” that is demanded in working with the runes. Once you have charged the role of runes or the bind rune, recites a very brief poem of your own creation that encapsulates the intent of your working, and includes (this is very important) a duration of time in which these runes hold the portal between life/death open!! You do not want to forget about that last caveat, as you can end up becoming plagued with endless communications coming your way from the dead if you do not do this. I am not included poem for you in this because it is important if not vital for this little prose to come from your heart not mine! Rune magick is not a type of magick where a person can simply imitate another magician. It does not matter whether this little poem is grammatically correct or even that it rhymes properly – it is more important that it comes from your heart and your passion and includes all of the aspects of your intent. Once you have recited your intent in that short poem of your own creation, burn the runes you have drawn and visualize intent you have energized moving on the smoke beyond the veil. Either chant the name of the bind rune (if that is what you have used) or chance the name or names of the person or persons you wish to communicate with. Use this as a mantra to allow your consciousness to shift into a deep state where you are able to communicate effectively. Once you are finished, bring yourself fully back into your normal state of awareness. Make sure you give verbal thanks to each of the runes that you have used, and by name to the spirits that you communicated with! Courtesy is like a drink from a fountain and is appreciated by the living and the dead alike. If you have a journal of some sort that you are taken with you, you want to write down your experience while it is fresh in your mind. Then it is very important for you to leave the site and do something that is completely different in order to allow yourself to fully acclimatize limited consciousness again.
