Satanism is a belief system that cannot be classified as a religion by the standards of the Abrahamic religions. That is why every satanist will advise a beginner to approach with an open mind, as there is no single true way of doing something or advancing in Satanism. There are many sects within Satanism, and one of them covers those who call themselves Traditional Satanists. Traditional Satanists believe in Satan as a being that exists, in comparison to the atheistic view of Satanism that sees Satan as a concept. Traditional Satanists believe Satan to be either a God, a friend, or a being coming from another dimension. Satan and demons alike can be befriended and made friends with. Traditional Satanists do not accept the Christian definition of Satan, as an evil being. On the contrary, Traditional Satanists believe Satan is a benevolent being, friendly to those who approach with an open mind and the giver of knowledge of many things. Satan is seen as a figure that bestows and brings knowledge to those who seek it, and to those who want to know as much as they can.
Most traditional Satanists are people who have well-thought-out philosophies and are very knowledgeable. Traditional Satanists perform rituals and honor Satan and his demons. They often form bonds with other demons and call upon them for aid and guidance. To traditional Satanists, self-development is of crucial importance. They believe that Satan takes their oaths seriously and wants them to advance in all fields and spheres of life. They value self-discipline above all.
