Lilith is her name and she is most famously known as the first wife of Adam, but her name was first mentioned in Epic of Gilgamesh ancient Babylonian texts. The legend of this great dark pagan goddess traveled through ancient Anatolia, Syria, Israel, Egypt and Greece. She is the embodiment of sexual female power.

Lilith (or Lilitu) has over 100 names and variations in myths. She is a Sumerian fertility/agricultural goddess, and she is the Greek goddess of the dark moon. She is the mother of all succubi. Lilith is associated with owls, serpents, and dark creatures of the night.

Her name traditional means night but also derives from the Sumerian name Lilitu. The Sumerian word “lil” means “wind”, “air”, “storm”; “lulti” - “lustfulness”, “lulu” - “licentiousness”; the Hebrew “lail” denotes “night”; the Indo-European word “la” means “to scream, to sing”, and from “la” stems the Sanskrit term “lik” - “to lick”; In Latin, “lux” means “light” which contains the idea of seeing in the dark and liberating oneself from darkness.

Lilith as the first wife of Adam cannot be found in the Xian bible but Jewish Midrash (Talmud), Dead Sea Scrolls and the much later Alphabet of Ben Sira (8th – 10th century). Like Adam Lilith is made out of Earth, in other words she is Adam’s equal in every way. Yet, Adam demands that she obeys him. When she refuses, God appears to reprimand her. Lilith then calls out God’s secret name and escapes Eden. Note: Magically the knowledge and usage of a name, especially a secret one, means being able to exert power over the owner of the name. She is the first feminist!!

Lilith is believed to be the mother off 100 demons. Depending on the tradition she birthed the demonic children by herself and other sources she united with Samael. According the Luciferian Trinity the union of Samael, Lilith, and Cain makes up the essence of the Baphomet the head of knowledge. It is said to be alchemical union of higher consciousness. She can be seen as killer or protector of children. She is feared but also loved.

My Personal Experience working with Lilith

She invoked herself into my life and during my first invocation to her the room changed to red hue. The second time she appeared into my minds eye as women with long black hair and silky loose red long dress. She has taught me self love and how to trust myself.

Hail the Dark Mother Lilith
